Swiis attends the Career Pathways event

04 April 2014

Members of our Swiis Health and Social Care team attended the Career Pathways event in Birmingham last week. The event was an opportunity for healthcare professionals, including registered nurses and registered mental nurses, to meet with agencies such as Swiis, and learn about how we can help them take their next big career step.

The event enabled us to promote information about Swiis to a large number of potential new candidates in a short space of time. We offer benefits unrivalled in the sector, with a £2000 new worker bonus scheme, free Occupational Health screening and free uniform available to registered nurses signing up with Swiis.

There was a positive turn-out, with a large number of healthcare professionals attending the event. We’ve seen a great response and have already met potential new members of the ever-growing Swiis family thanks to this!

Visit our events page to keep up-to-date with what we’re attending throughout the year, or contact 0333 577 1000 to speak with one of our team directly.

Celebrate World Social Work Day

18 March 2014

Today- Tuesday 18th March- people around the world are celebrating World Social Work Day, an annual celebration of social workers and the work they do to support some of the most vulnerable people and tackle the growing inequalities they face every day.

World Social Work Day is a joint collaboration between the three main international social work bodies: the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), The International Association of Schools and Social Workers (IASSW), and the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW). It aims at drawing attention to the important role social workers play in influencing the way in which systems function, by advocating for people and improving human relationships.

This is the 31st annual celebration and it will focus on the following points of discussion:

–          Promoting equality and equity

–          Enabling people to live sustainably

–          Building participation

–          Respecting diversity- connecting people

–          Facilitating caring communities

It will also allow the collaborating bodies to discuss strategies on how we can continue to work together to achieve a more just and equal world. This follows on from last year, when they put together the Global Agenda, outlining key objectives and points of action to focus on in the coming years.

You can keep track of what happens on the day by visiting the IFSW website and keep track of them on Twitter. We’re asking everyone at Swiis to tell us what social work means to them- give us your thoughts!
