Are you a dynamic Social Worker? then we need you to join our fostering team based in Leeds as a Supervising Social Worker. This is a full time, permanent position, with a salary of £28,000 - £34,000 and an attractive benefits package.

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered social work professional to take on a challenging and stimulating role as a Supervising Social Worker, supporting and supervising foster carers and their families.

The ideal candidate will be a competent, committed and personable individual with a current HCPC registration. In this role, you will offer professional advice, guidance, support and supervision to foster carers and their families to sustain children and young people in their placements, ensuring that carers have support in the undertaking of training and on-going professional development. The Supervising Social Worker also will undertake routine planned and un-planned visits to the carers and children in their homes.  Good communication is essential between all relevant Local Authority stakeholders responsible for the welfare of the child or young person in placement. You will work as part of the team to assist in developing and improving the existing service.

Essential requirements

  • Current HCPC registration and be eligible to work in the UK
  • MA/BA in social work/DipSW
  • Minimum of 1 years’ relevant recent practice experience (including placements) completion of the ASYE or equivalent to be evidenced.
  • Thorough understanding of legislative framework pertaining to children and fostering.
  • Maintain awareness of changes in legislation, related policies and practices and implement these within own professional practice.
  • Computer literacy and an understanding of computer systems
  • To be able to work closely with colleagues in children’s services.
  • To be competent and able to ensure a high level of service is maintained and that children are safeguarded
  • Ability to successfully manage a case load
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills
  • A desire to work as part of a team and have a sense of humour
  • Car driver with own car and clean licence
