Supervising Social Worker | Foster Care | Glasgow

An experienced Supervising Social Worker is required to join our fostering team as a Supervising Social Worker based in our Glasgow office covering foster carers who reside in the West Central area. This position is offered as 12 months Maternity Cover, with an annual salary of £30,500 - £37,000 per annum and an attractive benefits package.

The role involves being responsible for supervising foster carers with placements and providing them with on-going support, monitoring the care provided and contributing to carer development. Supervising Social workers are responsible for co-ordinating good communication between everyone involved to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people. They are also involved in the recruitment, assessment and preparation of prospective carers and the review of approved carers.

The role is for a permanent full-time position, with office hours covering Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00; however, flexibility with working hours will on occasion be required

The post holder will be expected to take part in a regular out of hours on call system, on a rota basis.

Essential requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work (DipSw, CQSW, MA/BA)
  • Current SSSC registration
  • Some relevant experience in a children and families and/or family placement team or similar setting.
  • Working knowledge of current social work legislation, regulations and standards
  • Ability to work positively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Direct knowledge of child protection procedures
  • Ability to manage case load
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Car driver

It is also desirable to have had experience in working with foster carers or children looked after in foster placements.
